Golf's verdict: When they reformed and headlined Coachella in 2016 it was a really big deal for the generation of students and clubbers that came after us (or - gulp - even the generation after that). Easy to see why - this is a great album full of some tunes with clever lyrics and topped off with what will soon become an addition to classic songs about New York.
Maire's verdict: I really liked this and can understand why their fans were so obsessed. A couple more listens and could well be a hidden gem.

Golf's verdict: Never heard their debut, but we discovered Jack and Meg for their second album and this - their third - shows a clear move towards a more mainstream sound that they eventually perfected by Elephant and Get Behind Me Satan. Not my favourite, but it does have 'Fell in Love with a Girl' which is nearly 2 minutes of garage rock perfection.
Maire's verdict: Not my go-to album (that's coming later in the challenge) but another strong one from The White Stripes.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Hard to describe quite how brilliant this was at the time, as - apart from Blur and The Prodigy - there was little about in 1994 to provide much hope of a resurgence in guitar music (D:Ream and M People were very big, if I recall, and Ace of Base (shudder)). It is, quite literally Brian, all killer and no filler.
Maire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! The soundtrack to my uni days. Love it.
