Golf's verdict: A complete deconstruction/reconstruction of the classic Neil Young track 'Only Love Can Break Your Heart' is the highlight of this debut album from a band featuring, in Bob Stanley, someone with a great appreciation for pop music. His huge historical work 'Yeah, Yeah, Yeah' covering 'chart music' from the mid 50s to the mid 00s is a great read.
Máire's verdict: A pleasant reminder of years gone by.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Listening to this and then to their debut from 1983 it is so tempting to imagine where The Smiths may have ended up, had they not imploded before this swansong was even released. The pace of development and the extraordinary breadth of musical invention in 4 years suggests we were robbed of something that could have been extraordinary. Despite some highlights, neither Mozza nor Marr have ever surpassed this (or, indeed, any Smiths album) in their solo or collaborational work since.
Máire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Pure genius.

Golf's verdict: I saw these guys about 10/12 years back and it was an immensely enjoyable night out. They sound like Soundtrack of Our Lives crossed with Twisted Sister.
Máire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Have never really listened to this band before. Really enjoyed the album and will be listening to more.

Golf's verdict: A wee bit on the indulgent side, but Al Jourgensen was responsible for some of my favourite music as a teenager, featuring both in Ministry as well as The Revolting Cocks and Lard (check them out at your own risk!), so he is forgiven. 'Jesus Built My Hotrod' is the highlight here.
Máire's verdict: Lots of shouting (and not in a particularly good way).
