Golf's verdict: A proper album. 6 tracks, 40 minutes. No 'skits'. They don't make 'em like this any more. Strangely forgettable music though, I have to say. I have not been converted to the Tim Buckley cause by the challenge, despite his 3 appearances.

Máire's verdict: Some okay tracks and some really irritating ones.

Golf's verdict: They lost the 'Transit Authority' after this and became Adult Orientated Rock behemoths in the later 70s and early 80s, with Peter Cetera even singing the theme to The Karate Kid. This is a real Curate's Egg though, the first first half of the double album being largely horn-based and quite funky and the second half more blues and psych guitar-based and including a great cover of The Spencer Davis Group's 'I'm A Man'. Really rather enjoyed it.

Máire's verdict: Quite fun in places but too bloody long.

Golf's verdict: Evidence that Kanye West is not all bad. He produced and appears on this and it is a mighty fine hip-hop record from someone I was not really familiar with.

Máire's verdict: Not really for me.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! A fantastic debut, although according to contemporary reports it still failed to capture the power of their live performances when they were hailed as 'The Best New Band in Britain' 25 years ago (yes, 25 bleedin' years ago!) I can well believe this because, as regular readers of this blog will recall, when we went to see their 'farewell' gig at the London Astoria when they originally threw in the towel back in the early Noughties they near as dammit' won the 'most impressive live performance having arrived with modest expectations and had my mind blown' award. Loved it.

Máire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! One of my top 5 favourite gigs was their ‘final’ gig at the Astoria back in Dec 2003. This is a wonderful record that everyone should listen to at least 5 times.
