Golf's verdict: Knew the name, but not the artist. In the Lauren Hill mould, I liked it but don't have any strong desire to hear it again.
Maire's verdict: By track 4 her voice was really annoying me; by the end of the album I was begging for some respite. A slightly extreme reaction I grant you.

Golf's verdict: Yes, it's a double album of psychedelia from the Bee Gees. Of course. And it's their SIXTH album too, and it's only 1969! To be honest, it does sound like their heart is not really in it. First of May is the only track I recognised and it's a surprise that's not more of a Christmas staple. Otherwise, it's a bit 'by numbers' and reminded me of that scene in 'This is...Spinal Tap' when Nigel and David's previous band went all a bit Flower Power for five minutes, chasing a hit. Status Quo pulled this sort of thing off for a couple of singles, but the Gibb brothers struggle to do it justice over 4 sides of vinyl.
Maire's verdict: Shut up! Please, please shut up!

Golf's verdict: How we used to hate Eminem. Maybe it was seeing 8 Mile that made me realised quite how talented you need to be to rhyme as well as this. Certainly 'Lose Yourself' (later than this album) really converted me to his cause. The 'comedy' skits are still just as juvenile and puerile as they ever were, but whilst I was previously impervious to the charms of Slim Shady, he can now chalk me up as a fan (just not his Number One Fan, Stan).
Maire's verdict: Thank Christ for Eminem after the previous albums today! I don't think I've heard the whole album before but definitely worth a listen.
