Golf's verdict: I HATED this in 1988. The only rap I really liked in those days was NWA and it took me until relatively recently to realise how great P.E. were/are. I think it was the London Paralympics and Channel 4 using one of their songs for its theme music. Jam packed full of great samples and some vitriolic rapping.
Maire's verdict: Really enjoyed this, much to my surprise.

David Bowie - The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (1972)

2. | "Soul Love" | 3:34 |
3. | "Moonage Daydream" | 4:40 |
4. | "Starman" | 4:10 |
5. | "It Ain't Easy" (Ron Davies) | 2:58 |
Total length: | 20:04 |
Side two | ||

10. | "Suffragette City" | 3:25 |
11. | "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide" | 2:58 |
Golf's verdict: Probably my favourite Bowie album, but it is so hard to choose. Another loose 'concept' album where I have a movie playing in my head when I listen to it. Often it's a completely different movie.
Maire's verdict: Genius.

Jeff Buckley - Grace (1994)
No. | Title | Writer(s) | Length |
---|---|---|---|
1. | "Mojo Pin" | 5:42 | |
2. | "Grace" |
| 5:22 |
3. | "Last Goodbye" | Jeff Buckley[42] | 4:35 |
4. | "Lilac Wine" | James Shelton | 4:32 |
5. | "So Real" |
| 4:43 |
6. | "Hallelujah" | Leonard Cohen | 6:53 |
7. | "Lover, You Should've Come Over" | Jeff Buckley | 6:43 |
8. | "Corpus Christi Carol" |
| 2:56 |
9. | "Eternal Life" | Jeff Buckley | 4:52 |
10. | "Dream Brother" |
| 5:26 |
Golf's verdict: Tragically dead too soon, who knows what he could have gone on to achieve? Instead, he only managed this one real album which, despite Hallelujah (best ever version of the Leonard Cohen standard) is a little too similar in places to be a true classic in my opinion. Grace is another stand-out track.
Maire's verdict: Despite a couple of truely amazing tracks, this is basically a 'whine-a-thon'.

Golf's verdict: KB at the absolute top of her game. Almost sounds like a best of, with Side One in particular just gem after gem.
Maire's verdict: Only ever really heard the 'best of' before but could have quite happily had this on repeat. Much needed after the previous album!
