Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! A debut album that genuinely offered something completely new at the time (although it took a long time to find its audience). '1969' and ' I Wanna Be Your Dog' have been part of many a teenage band's setlist ever since.

Maire's verdict: Close to a hidden gem, just not quite.

Golf's verdict: Another slice of classic hip-hop that, to my ears, seems much preferable to most of that genre I hear these days. Guess I must get some new ears!

Maire's verdict: Dated in the first song (actually, I think it's the first line) when he refers to a pager. Not that bothered.

Golf's verdict: It all sounds lovely. But, as an experiment, we left it on after the album had finished on Spotify and it started automatically playing tracks from their other albums. It was genuinely impossible to tell the difference. When you are responsible for inventing your own genre then I guess that is your prerogative, but doesn't that mean that all you really need to own is one Sigur Ros album?

Maire's verdict: Some lovely tracks but I always find their music quite cold so can't really get into them.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! One of the greatest rock albums of all time. They're hardly very productive (4 albums in 30 years), but it is always worth waiting for. I never tire of listening to this album.

Maire's verdict: I'm not as big a fan (by any stretch) as Golf. Still a highly recommended album though.
