Day 190: When he woke she was gone with his car and all of his money...

I may have hand-picked 3 of today's albums. Wonder if you can guess which ones.... Maire

Golf's verdict: Okay, I'm convinced. Declan MacManus is a worthy of his reputation as a bit of a musical genius. Not quite the equal of his late 70s/early 80s purple patch, but 'I Want You' is a stone cold classic.

Maire's verdict: I'm not a huge Costello fan but this was rather enjoyable.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! More or less narrated/sang along to the whole thing.

Maire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! I asked for the film when I was about 14 and remember the folks being completely bemused when I put it on. I love the album as much now as I did then; the film less so.

Golf's verdict: 'Badlands' and the title track make the album truly memorable, but it's no 'Born to Run' or 'The River'.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! So good that we had to listen to its successor (Fin de Siecle) immediately after. Neil Hannon more or less has a hospital pass in our household, but this album in particular is an absolute joy to listen (and sing along) to.

Maire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Just wonderful. Made me smile the whole way through.

Golf's verdict: Ultimately a victim of Billy Corgan's massive ego, this features many of their greatest songs. But...FFS, it's over 2 hours long!!! It's not that it has lots of weak material, it's just it would have been far better to have been released as two, complementary, albums (like Rufus W's 'Want One' & 'Want Two' or System of a Down's 'Hypnotize' and 'Mesmerize').

Maire's verdict: Some absolutely gorgeous tracks but too long for it to be a hidden gem.
