Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Famously dismissed as 'mock rock' by (Whispering) Bob Harris on the Old Grey Whistle Test, this is, in fact, more frock rock (even cock rock!) and guaranteed to satisfy. Stylistically and musically both derivative and ahead of their time - simultaneously. That's a lot harder than it looks. As this is their only appearance on the list, please go watch the excellent and bittersweet documentary about their triumphant reformation from the bassist, Arthur 'Killer' Kane's, perspective. A rock-doc of the finest order, even Bob Harris would concur. You can see the whole film here:

Maire's verdict: Like the music but it's not a classic for me.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Few returns are as highly anticipated than Drummond and Caughty's and - according to some cryptic K Foundation fly-posters earlier this year - a new phase is just around the corner. In typical KLF fashion they deleted this from the catalogue shortly after it was released and it is not available on Spotify. Thanks to You Tube then for providing us the opportunity to hear this utterly ridiculous, yet totally compelling album once again.

Maire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! I said 'I'm not really a fan' as we started listening to this album. Good job I don't mind admitting I'm wrong. Absolutely loved it.

Golf's verdict: Another one only available on You Tube, probably more due to general apathy towards Slade than anything else. A shame as they were a good rock and roll band who produced a lot more than just a novelty Christmas hit. You can understand Noel Gallagher's love for them by listening to this.

Maire's verdict: I've never been a fan and can confirm this is still the case.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Shock and horror! Maire's not given this a Hidden Gem status and it's a Nick Cave album. It's not my favourite, but with an artiste as close to our hearts as Nick it's a bit like picking your favourite child. In this case the child is the deeply disturbed child sociopath as vividly described in 'The Curse of Millhaven'. As usual, there is much to be amused and entertained by and his lyrical flourishes are often hilarious (though not SFW). I know all the words which could be dangerous if caught singing along in public...

Maire's verdict: Haven't listened to the album as a whole for ages as although I adore Nick Cave this isn't one of my go-to records. The best track is 'Stagger Lee' and I still know all the words - unlike Mr. Cave who, at one memorable gig, had a roadie hold the lyrics up on poster-size cards and dragged him around the stage. Still makes me smile.
