Golf's verdict: Sold millions and millions and Connected and Step It Up were played seemingly millions and millions of times back in the early 90s. They'll never have to work again, but I am still a little bemused as to why this was such a popular choice.
Maire's verdict: This band reminds me of my room-mate in my first year of uni. I didn't understand most of her music choices and she was completely bemused by mine. I seem to have softened slightly as although I still can't stand 'Connected' I wasn't as irritated by the rest of it as I remember. Saying that, I won't be listening to it again any time soon (if ever).

Golf's verdict: A stone cold 80s classic. The Look of Love (Part One) in particular is an absolute perfect pop single. Highly influenced by the synthesizers used by producer Trevor Horn, it has not dated as much as many of it contemporaries and is still a great listen.
Maire's verdict: Brilliant album that everyone should listen to at least once.

Maire's verdict: Not my favourite album by them but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless, with the classic track 'Sunny Afternoon' a stand out.

Merk - Swordfish (2016)

Golf's verdict: I am rather taken by this debut album from local Auckland wonderkid Merk. Went out to see him and band this evening and I predict he has a bright future ahead. He's described his sound as 'like Pavement, if produced by George Martin' and it's clear he's benefited from working as an intern at Neil Finn's Auckland studios. This has at least 5 candidates for Single of the Week and the middle eight of Manchuria is so catchy it's been my earworm for weeks! The Spotify link to this album is above.
