Golf's verdict: If you are going to try and be a Stevie Wonder-like master of the old funk and soul then woe betide you if you are white, middle-class and the son of a minor celebrity. That has not prevented Jay Kay from selling millions of records, but it has done untold damage to his street cred. You are not supposed to like Jamiroquai and I cannot say I actually DO like this, but the bits that sound most like prime-era '70s Stevie W are not half bad. Better to just put Talking Book or Innervisions on though.
Maire's verdict: I remember when this came out. Didn't like it then and don't like it now. In fact it's shite.

Golf's verdict: This album has little warmth and is a little like the musical equivalent of amphetamine paranoia. But I still rather like it. Well, it's Radiohead, isn't it? They've never released anything less than an interesting record. This one is hard to really love though.
Maire's verdict: I struggled with this album, to be honest. Not a favourite.

Golf's verdict: If 'It's a Sin' is peak Pet Shop Boys then this comes just after that peak. Still bloody good though and the version of 'Go West' is a camp classic.
Maire's verdict: Always liked the Pet Shop Boys and this is really good.
