Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! This more or less invented the electronic torch song and 'Say Hello, Wave Goodbye' is a work of unparallelled genius. This debut also has 'Sex Dwarf' (with its 'luring disco dollies to a life of vice' chorus - must have gone down well on Top of the Pops in 1981), 'Bedsitter' and - arguably the most successful cover version of all time: 'Tainted Love'.
Maire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! I knew 'Tainted Love' and 'Say Hello, Wave Goodbye' but not the rest. Thought it was brilliant.

Golf's verdict: 'Plateau', 'Oh Me' and 'Lake of Fire' are all covered on Nirvana's MTV Unplugged album which must have made Curt a huge pile of cash. Apparently Kurt Cobain was a huge fan, but this album did not give me much to go on as to why. Some interesting quasi-country style stuff, blended with more run of the mill american hardcore.
Maire's verdict: A lead singer who can't sing. Hmmm....

Golf's verdict: Has never been completely my cup of tea, but much of this was familiar and enjoyable to listen to.
Maire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! I've never been a big fan but loved this. My mate Alex will be proud 😀
