Golf's verdict: Remember seeing this Swiss industrial band at the Reading Festival* way back. They rocked. Sadly failed to get a great deal of traction, other than some namechecks from David Bowie and Trent Reznor (NIN fans will love this). They were led by a classically trained classical guitarist who - perversely - never played guitar.
Maire's verdict: (Potential) HIDDEN GEM! Never heard them before. Trying to understand why I loved this despite not understanding a word. May have something to do with the lead singer's voice or reminding me a bit of the Neph. Note to self: need to learn French.
* I had to Google when. It was 1990. Take a look at this line-up:

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! The reason this has sold over 40 million copies is that it pretty much distils hard rock into a single artefact. Approaching 40 years old, it continues to be a rite of passage for generation after generation. Once you get a hankering for hard rock music (from any source) virtually everyone ends up owning this.
Maire's verdict: If you only listen to one AC/DC album in your life then make it this one. I'm not a particular fan but thoroughly enjoyed this on the flight.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Ultimately the 'Grass ended up as more of a 'Greatest Hits' kind of band than a classic album band (though I own most of them). But this is a fantastically strong debut.
Maire's verdict: 'Caught By the Fuzz' is the only song worth listening to by Supergrass but Golf will disagree. On a side note, we went to see them at the Brixton Academy. We were seated, I was bored and so I fell asleep for most of the gig (back then I could sleep through anything). That about sums up this album.
