Golf's verdict: Knowing Jeff Beck only as a Yardbirds guitarist and also for the Christmas staple 'Hi-ho Silver Lining' I remarked to Maire how surprised I was to hear how much he sounded like Rod Stewart. Turns out this solo album is actually largely sung by the tartan mulleteer, leaving Jeff to noodle nicely in the background. Rather enjoyed it.
Maire's verdict: I quite enjoyed the blues tracks but hate 'Greensleeves'.

Golf's verdict: Sails rather too close to 'Oirish' pastiche at times, especially on 'The Stolen Child' but there are enough great tracks on this to make up for that.
Maire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Haven't listened to this album in over 20 years. Loved it.

Golf's verdict: Music appreciation is a funny thing. By rights I should be dead centre in the target demographic for J&MC, given my love of 80s guitar music. But they have never quite done it for me and I have tried both Darklands and Psychocandy on for size many times in the last 30 odd years. It's not bad at all. I love 'April Skies' and 'Happy When It Rains' and woud happily sit and listen to it, but for some reason it's never going to be an essential purchase.
Maire's verdict: I was never a big J&MC fan but some great tracks made it a very pleasant listen.
