Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! I had the advantage over Maire on this one, as it's been in my CD collection for some time. Ironic that the best solo album from a Beach Boy came from the (largely) non-singing drummer. This album, like Gene Clark's 'No Other', is another '70s west coast masterpiece that barely warranted a review when first released.

Maire's verdict: Never heard this before. Really enjoyed it. Potentially a hidden gem - just need to listen to it a couple more times to confirm.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM!
It was a real pleasure to get reacquainted with this. We loved BDB when he first got attention with this album. His first few albums were brilliant and then - nothing! Come back Damon, we miss you and your tea cosy hat!

Maire's verdict: Another album that we used to listen to a lot and then I forgot about it. Very enjoyable but perhaps a tad too long.

Golf's verdict:
Randomly selected on the same day as Nirvana, but a salient lesson in telling the difference between those who soar and those who glide, those who break new ground and those who follow in their wake and those who make genuinely new and timeless rock music and those that just create sub-par, Pearl Jammy ersatz like this.

Maire's verdict: One word: rubbish.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Some tragic signs in the lyrics of the sort of pain and depression that fame was creating for Kurt in this final Nirvana album. A harder production and several more challenging tracks make this a harder listen than Nevermind, but Cobain's ear for a great hook and riff cannot be suppressed and this is still generously packed with memorable and fine tunes.

Maire's verdict: Great album but I prefer Nevermind.
