Day 167: Well the madcap laughed at the man on the border...

Maire: Today was not a great day for the challenge!

Golf: Nearly 4 and a half hours of music today. Luckily I was on a 6.40am flight the Christchurch and back again in the evening...

Golf's verdict: Concept album / rock opera about growing up in the shadow of Lynyrd Skynyrd - and particularly the plane crash that killed Ronnie van Zandt, the lead singer (amongst several other band members). I enjoyed it.

Maire's verdict: God it does go on a bit! They seem to have a thing about Lynyrd Skynyrd; I prefer Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Golf's verdict: Is it okay to say that, had Syd not left Pink Floyd then they would have ended up a footnote, rather than a whole bookshelf in the library of rock? There is plenty to like here though, but I prefer him in small doses.

Maire's verdict: I really wanted to like this album but it's rubbish.

Golf's verdict: Pleasant background listening. Used to listen to this sort of thing after a busy night of of socialising back in the day.

Maire's verdict: Something and nothing.

Golf's verdict: Whilst this is not entirely without merit, the band's styling and 'gimmick' taken from Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre definitely made sure they jumped several dozen places in the metal queue. Good luck to them.

Maire's verdict: It's possible I prefered this to the other albums today. It's shit so that's not saying much.
