Golf's verdict: 808 State are directly responsible for bridging the gap for me between Kraftwerk and rock music. As an indie-obsessed 16 year old, sound checking at one of our band's village hall self-promoted gigs, I witnessed the hired sound engineers playing 808 State through the rather impressive PA system we had hired with the majority of the proceeds from ticket sales. It was the first time I actually physically felt the bass. I was hooked. Great to hear this again.

Maire's verdict: Surprised me how much I enjoyed it as it's not really my genre. I smiled the whole plane ride to Wellington.

Golf's verdict: Undoubtedly talented, just not really my cup of tea when delivered for this duration and intensity.

Maire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! I'm reassessing my opinion of Björk. Loved this album.

Golf's verdict: Somehow this seems to be even longer than the maximum recordable capacity of a modern compact disc. How is that even possible? Anyhow, some significant pruning would not have harmed this at all. But it does feature some great stuff, including the introduction of Ice's hard rock alter ego band, Body Count.

Maire's verdict: Should have cut it down by half but pretty enjoyable.
