Golf's verdict: The album prior to huge-lunged Bruce Dickinson joining is a relatively straighforward and melodic affair, far similar to 1970s heavy rock than the 1980s New Wave of Heavy Metal (NWHM) movement of which they would become figureheads. Still plenty to headbang to though!

Maire's verdict: More melodic that I was expecting. Pleasant enough for an early morning commute but not particularly interested in listening to it again.

Golf's verdict: As I think I have written on this blog before, The Stones were never an album band and this is another half-incredible/half-meh example. Country Honk (a Nashville style revisit of Honky Tonk Woman) is interesting and fun, but illustrates the point well. Most other bands would save that for a b-side or a compilation. Here it is called into the front ranks.

Maire's verdict: Love 'Gimme Shelter'; dislike 'You Can't Always Get What You Want'. Evens itself out to a fun listen.

Golf's verdict: Contains one of popular music's great song titles, but other than that is not particularly memorable.

Maire's verdict: I'm not really a fan of Paul Simon's solo output. This is probably the best of the bunch in my book (but that's not saying all that much).

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! With Eno now essentially the fifth member of the band, this really shows how incredibly diverse and versatile TH became after their relatively simple beginnings and a new-wave band. One of the most under-rated bands of the 80s.

Maire's verdict: Some great tracks. Very enjoyable.
