Golf's verdict: A rather pleasant surprise. Was expecting to hate it, but more than half of these had me tapping my foot away. Listened to it in the gym and it is fine workout music.
Maire's verdict: Nope, you're wrong: everyone doesn't know 'this song' or, indeed, this record. I actually enjoyed it, although it was too long and the last 2 tracks really annoyed me.

Golf's verdict: Bit of a strange one: three cover versions, two of which are extended jams - plus only one original. It's unmistakably Isaac Hayes, but it's no 'Theme from Shaft'.
Maire's verdict: He may have a great voice but merged with the background once he started waffling. Stick with the singing.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Nobody was more surprised at this than I was. I knew the title track, but rather chauvinistically had always assumed it was a cover written for Marianne by one of her paramours. I also know and like several other tracks but always thought they were Patti Smith or Grace Jones. A really pleasant surprise and shame on me for my rather stereotyped view of the 'model/actress turned singer'. Worth seeking out.
Maire's verdict: Started to listen to this assuming I wouldn't like it. Not sure why. I was wrong - approaching a hidden gem and may become one after repeated listens.
Edit: Listened to it twice today and upgrading to a HIDDEN GEM!

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Nearly all of the tracks on this album are familiar, but not so much from knowledge of the album but rather from its continuing popularity and regular airplay on BBC 6Music and the like. Nearing 40 years old, it still sounds fresh and often superior to the many bands (from Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Franz Ferdinand) who cite Gang of Four as an influence.
Maire's verdict: Rather enjoyed this.
