Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM!* How did I get to 2017 without hearing this? Oh yes, I was too busy listening to great music. It does have some good tunes on it though. Cry Me a River and Rock Your Body (which, from memory, were both singles**) are both quite entertaining. He's certainly no talentless puppet, but perhaps age will bring something more interesting to his music, in time.
Maire's verdict: Not to my taste but not as painful as I was expecting.
*Not really. Just kidding.
**They were played about a million bloody times on radio and TV in 2002.

Golf's verdict: This challenge has already left me concluding that the invention of the CD created a big quality control problem for music. This is another one of those, 'never mind the quality, here's some more quantity' albums. Lately, I have grown fond of Chris Cornell's voice, but at the time I lumped these guys in with Pearl Jam and several other uninspired bunches. This is rescued from 'meh' status by the inclusion of Black Hole Sun and Spoonman. In other words, if it had been a double A-sided single I would not have felt short-changed.
Maire's verdict: All sounds the same and blurs into the background except for 'Black Hole Sun'. Although it's a good enough song it doesn't justify the whole album

Golf's verdict: Great to jump up and down to at the disco when you are 14. I have never felt compelled to own or play their music, but I begrudge them nothing for finding a successful formula and sticking to it.
Maire's verdict: Bubble gum punk. Would I buy it? No chance, but fun while it lasted.
