Golf's verdict: Cheree is midly diverting but Suicide are yet another band on the list because of their impeccable credibility of being first, rather than being best. In their case, they were the 'first' New York new wave band to really embrace electronic music to the exclusion of all else. That's great, but those that came after did it better. Frankie Teardrop is about 10:25 too long.
Maire's verdict: Immature rubbish.

Golf's verdict: In a single 12 month period in 2015 and 2016 we managed to see both Dolly and Prince in concert. Both of them knew what their audience wanted and how to give it to them, with seconds. This early effort from DP was actually her EIGHTH album. She's been at it a long time. She's really underated as a songwriter and there's a lot of evidence to back that up on here.
Maire's verdict: Gotta love a bit of Dolly. 'Coat of Many Colours' is a great song and enjoyed the rest of the album as well.

Golf's verdict: Not sure I had ever listened to this album. So many of our memories of him started with the When Doves Fly video on MTV (after which 1999 and Little Red Corvette got rereleased and charted in the UK). Signs of the greatness to come and that kept on coming. He may have been a little self-indulgent and often sabotaged his own career, but until last April I always had so much confidence that he would always come up with something new and interesting on a regular cycle. And when he played Auckland with just his piano and microphone it was genuinely like being in the presence of a musical genius. What a loss.
Maire's verdict: I'd forgotten what a genius Prince was until we saw him live last year (straight into my Top 5 gigs). This isn't my favourite album by him - Purple Rain probably takes that crown - but it's got 'Little Red Corvette' and '1999' as the standout tracks, so definitely worth a listen or two.
