Golf's verdict: Saves the best 'til last, but before the impeccable Superfly you do get to enjoy Freddie's Dead, Pusherman and Eddie You Should Know Better - all choice cuts, as I believe the cogniscenti say...

Maire's verdict: Too much jazz and not enough soul for my taste.

Golf's verdict: I pretty much boycotted Frank Black/Black Francis in the '90s as I was in a strop about him not keeping the Pixies together and releasing albums like Surfer Rosa and Doolittle every year until I got bored. (It's 2017 now, I still wouldn't be bored). However, it turns out it was my loss. Frank shrugs off the BF persona and gleefully grabs two handfuls of all the genres he obviously wanted to try out but never could as frontman of one of the world's best bands, but one whose fans (including me) have certain well-defined expectations as to what a Pixies record MUST sound like. It even has a vaguely Ska track that reminded me a bit of Madness (Fiddle Riddle). Ace. I eventually got with the solo-Frank programme around Dog in the Sand, but never went back, so today was my first ever listen to Teenager of the Year.

Maire's verdict: It's no Pixies but I did enjoy it.

Golf's verdict: Unmistakably Ice Cube, but with enough guest appearances from fellow- NWA'ers to sound like a natural segueway. Endangered Species, with Chuck D, stands out. Raises a wry smile often, particularly its samples of talk radio DJ outrage at Gangsta Rap in general and Ice Cube in particular.

Maire's verdict: This bitch certainly didn't love it but didn't hate it as much as most hip-hop I've had to listen to through the course of this challenge. Quite liked 'It's a Man's World'.
