Golf's verdict: Although we listened to the album earlier, we got a lot of this at the concert tonight. Regular readers of this blog will know that, whilst we have broad tastes, we are not your average Adele fans. She would not usually be on our 'to buy' list (she won't miss us in her royalty cheque, let's face it), but I have to give credit where it is due: she is absolutely world class and has written some modern classics. Her show was stunningly good. And if she ever loses her voice she could make a living as a stand up...

Maire's verdict: Not a huge Adele fan but we're off to see hier this evening so this is a planned rather than random choice. Still think 21 is her best and surprised not to see it on the list. A few good tracks but probably won't be listening to the whole album again.

*After note: Probably the best stadium concert I've been to, although Bon Jovi and Muse are strong contenders. She was, quite simply, amazing.

Golf's verdict: Fun fact: one of the most sampled albums of all time. Why? Because of the amazing 'Beatlemania'-like screaming and crowd noise. Briefly Cheap Trick were the new Fab Four in Japan and this album finds them at their height - taking English glam-rock and exporting it to the Japanese. You'll definitely know the Fats Domino cover ('Ain't That a Shame') but probably also 'I Want You to Want Me' and - one of the best singles of the '70s - 'Surrender'.

Maire's verdict: Fun album with a couple of recognisable tunes.

Golf's verdict: Listened to this a lot when wallpapering some years back so have a Proustian flashback to standing on stepladders when hearing it again about 18 years later. He has a pitch-perfect production knack for capturing the 80s sound (not in a naff way either) and puts the cherry on the cake by getting Nik Kershaw to sing on one the strongest tunes. Gave it all up to produce Madonna and make millions. The fool.

Maire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! There seems to be a recurring theme in this challenge: I rediscover albums that I used to love and find they are as good as I remember. This is another for the list. Can't believe I haven't listened to this since our St. John's Road days.
