Golf's verdict: Strangely eclectic, but rather enjoyable album. Presumably not having the luxury of the Brian Wilson well to return to for this (it having dried up following the abandoned 'Smile' sessions from a few years prior), it relies instead on the other Beach Boys contributions. The title is presumably ironic, as this is a long way from the girls and cars surfer tunes of the early 60s.

Maire's verdict: Prefer Pet Sounds but still a good album.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Every one's a winner. If you only ever own one Dylan album then I would probably recommend this one.

Maire's verdict: As you know if you're a regular to the blog, I'm not a Dylan fan. However, after listening to this album I must admit I rather enjoyed it. Yeap - I was surprised too.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Had never heard this and only knew of Chris Bailey as an old mucker of Nick Cave's who he teamed up with for a track on Nocturama (a Bad Seeds album from a few years back). It is an absolute cracker though and heading to the top of the 'to buy' pile.

Maire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Never heard of them. Loved the album.

Golf's verdict: More commonly found with the Simon & Garfunkel cover tagged onto the end, without 'Mrs Robinson' this still makes for a pleasant listen, with half a dozen memorable poppy tunes.

Maire's verdict: I think I had The Lemonheads mixed up with another band (not an uncommon occurrence) until 'Mrs Robinson'. Very pleasant soundtrack for a flight. A potential grower.
