Golf's verdict: Good finger-picking folkie, but he has a rather affected vocal style that ended up reminding me a little bit too much of Donovan. By the end I was finding it a little bit grating. Enjoyable in small doses.

Maire's verdict: Started off okay but got boring very quickly (within a couple of songs).

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM!: I know Robyn Hitchcock a little, but had never heard his '70s band before. The other half went on to become Katrina and the Waves! Don't let that discourage you though. Fans of REM and any 80s jangly guitar music that references the '60s will love this.

Maire's verdict: Haven't heard them before but I really enjoyed this.

Golf's verdict: It is hard not to like the title track, despite it representing bloated, 'AOR' style rock music. The guitar solo is one of the best ever and the lyric does have some memorable lines. The rest is perfectly hummable country/soft rock, but sounds very similar to every other Eagles song.

Maire's verdict: 'Hotel California' is the stand-out track. The rest of the album is soft rock at its finest - take that as you will...
