Golf's verdict: The first of the Island albums and a fine listen.
Máire's verdict: One thing this Challenge has shown is that I hate jazz a hell of a lot more than reggae. Still not a fan though.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! Deservedly so just for 'Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth', which has one of the most evocative and vivid opening lines of any song (see today's blog title). The rest of this album is excellent too. A rather under-appreciated future classic.
Máire's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! ‘Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth’ is a brilliant record and the only one I really recognised. Loved the rest of the album.

Golf's verdict: HIDDEN GEM! I was genuinely and completely unaware of this guy before today, but very glad to have made his acquaintance. The Dylan and Kristofferson influences are pretty well to the fore, but he reminded me a little of Loudon Wainwright III too.
Máire's verdict: Quite melancholic. I rather enjoyed it.

Golf's verdict: My favourite Joni Mitchell album of the challenge, but I would still not say I was converted to the cause.
Máire's verdict: While not as intensely irritating as previous offerings, I still don’t understand the attraction. Maybe I’ll come back in 10 years and see if my feelings have changed like they did for Leonard Cohen.
